Comfort and maximum performance are obtained from the bike fitting test, which will result in a proposal for a  personalized frame and correct positioning on the bike consisting of: the height and draw back position of the saddle, the distance between the saddle and the handle bar, the difference in height between the saddle and the handlebar, correct crank and stem length and handlebar width. Certificates like the samples below of the anthropometric values, the suggested frame dimensions and correct position on the bike will be issued and sent to the customer. This service is available for both Road and Mountain bike enthusiasts.

Certificate samples are not available at the moment but can be viewed shortly

By following the ten steps listed below and with the help of the anthropological measurements diagram it is possible to individualize the necessary points from which measurements are to be taken. To make things easier you will need round sticky markers of about 5mm to 10mm in diameter, a rigid round bar (eg.broom stick), a spirit level or a trisquare, a pencil, a chair, a straight wall and a semi rigid measuring tape in millimeters, or better but not a must, the Velosystem® measuring tool. Some points are harder to individualized than others so do not hesitate to contact us should you have any difficulties.

Always get someone else to do the measuring and individualizing of the necessary measuring points. These operations should be done barefoot and with practically all the parts to be measured uncovered. Take each measurement two or three times to make sure the exact reading is taken. Do not take off the sticky markers before all the measurements are taken as some points are to be used more than once.

When all the measurements are taken according to the ten steps below fill in the  application (by clicking over here) with your personal details and measurements in millimeters. E-Mail it to us by submitting the form, if you are paying by bank transfer but also print the confirmation sheet , sign it where requested and FAX it to (00356)21662381 if you are paying by credit card. This service will cost you 20 Maltese liri (about 50euro) payable on application, but is reimbursed on ordering your tailor-made  frame from us. Ask for payment details in order to effect payment by bank transfer.

                       Anthropometrics Measurements Diagram

Step 1

Overall Height (H)

The cyclist must place himself in an upright position with his back to a wall. A spirit level or trisquare is placed horizontally on his head and square to the wall. Mark a line with a pencil on the wall where the lower part of the sprit level or trisquare touches the wall. Measure the length from the floor to the mark with a measuring tape.

Step 2

Inseam Height (Cav)

Still in an upright position, press into the pelvis and hold between the legs, a rigid bar held horizontally. The bar must be pushed hard till resistance is offered.  Measure the height between the floor and the upper side of the horizontal bar.

 Step 3

Body Height (T)

Still in an upright position. Place a sticky marker on the upper border of the sternum (breast bone). This is the dimple situated at the base of the neck between the two clavicle bones (collar-bones). Measure the distance from the floor to the center of the sticky marker. To achieve the body height, subtract the inseam height from this figure.

Step 4

Foot length (P)

In an upright or seated position place a sticky marker on the inner side of the foot, on the joint of the big toe or precisely 5mm backwards of the most protruding part on the side of the big toe.

In an upright position with heels to the wall measure with a semi rigid measuring tape or with the use of the scaled Velosystem® measuring platform, the distance from the center of marker to the wall. Do this for both feet.

Step 5

Lower Leg length (G)

In a seated position, place a sticky marker on the most protruding point on the outside (malleolus) of the ankle.

Place another sticky marker on the knee articulation: precisely follow the exterior margin of the shinbone till you find a dimple under the kneecap. Follow this margin from the inside towards the outside till you a find rigid part (the external collateral ligament) and position a marker here.

Now in an upright position measure the distance between these two markers with the Velosystem® measuring instrument or with a semi rigid measuring tape. Repeat on other leg.

Step 6

Upper leg length (C)

In an upright position, place another marker on the hip articulation. More precisely touch lightly then press the exterior part of the hip at the height of the gluteal muscle and feel for the bony protrusion of the great trochanter. Position the marker precisely 5mm above and 5mm behind this protrusion.

Measure the distance between this marker and the one positioned previously on the knee articulation with the use of the Velosystem® measuring instrument or a semi rigid measuring tape. Repeat on other leg.

Step 7

Lower arm length (A)

In an upright position, place a sticky marker on the wrist: To do so move on the top of the hand towards the wrist applying slight pressure with the thumb till you arrive to the deepest point in the center of the wrist. Place the marker.

Place another marker on the elbow: To do so extend your arm downwards with your palm facing forward. By doing this a kind of dimple can be seen on the elbow. Apply slight pressure with your finger inside this dimple till you find the joint which consists of two bones. Place a marker on this point.

Measure the distance from the center of the two markers with the use of the Velosystem® measuring instrument or a semi rigid measuring tape. This is the lower arm length. Repeat the steps for other lower arm.

Step 8

Upper Arm length (B)

In an upright position, place a sticky marker on the shoulder articulation: To do this place yourself in front of the cyclist: With your hand stroke the shoulder surface from the neck outwards till you find a harder surface (bone). Keep moving externally till the end of the bone. Just below this part, coinciding with the shoulder angle is where the marker should be placed.

Measure the length from this marker to the marker placed previously on the elbow with the use of the Velosystem® measuring instrument or a semi rigid measuring tape. Again repeat for other upper arm.

Step 9

Shoulder width (S)

In an upright position measure the distance between the two markers placed previously on the left and right shoulders articulations. This can be done by using a Velosystem® measuring instrument or with the use of a semi rigid measuring tape.

Step 10

Coefficient of deflection (CD)

In an upright position with your arms pointing downwards and straight, hold a bar of about 25mm diameter and of length which is slightly longer than a handlebar, in both hands across your body, bend over keeping your legs straight and without exerting excess strain on your back and legs. Measure the distance from the top of the bar to the floor.
